1974 Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 — Fully Restored, Factory Onyx Black, AVO Registered

A superb opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored Mk1 Ford Escort RS2000, finished in its original factory colour of Onyx Black with period gold side stripes. This car has been restored with a clear focus on originality, correct presentation and roadworthiness, making it a highly desirable example for any serious Ford enthusiast or collector.

The car was purchased from a long-term owner in Canvey Island, where it had spent a number of years stored in the back of a workshop in dismantled condition. Since then, a comprehensive restoration has been carried out, with missing components sourced, poor-condition parts replaced, and original items restored wherever possible.

The bodyshell was entrusted to Back in the Day Classic Car Restoration, specialists in Mk1 and Mk2 Escort body repair and assembly. Extensive panel repair and replacement work was carried out before the car was prepared and refinished in the correct factory Onyx Black, the same colour it left Ford with in 1974.

Mechanically, the engine has been rebuilt by respected Ford specialist Mike Lowman, known for his work on classic and performance Ford engines. Importantly, the engine remains completely standard, with no performance modifications, retaining the character and specification of the car as originally intended.

The underside presents extremely well, showing the quality of the restoration, with clean floors, fresh suspension components, tidy running gear and a well-presented exhaust system. The exterior paintwork, chrome detailing, RS2000 badging and period-correct styling give the car a superb presence.

The car is registered with the AVO Club, and a history folder along with the log book will be supplied. It also has a current MOT, which was obtained to confirm the car's roadworthiness and give reassurance to the next owner.
